British tourist lucky to survive 10 hours in water

A British woman who spent 10 hours overnight in the Adriatic Sea after falling from a cruise liner off Croatia survived due to fortunate weather conditions and good physical fitness. The vessel “Cavtat” found the woman, identified at Kay Longstaff, shortly after it reached the point where she was last seen. She was initially exhausted and in shock, but quickly recuperated. Longstaff fell from the Norwegian Star cruiser into the Adriatic sea at around midnight Croatian time. She was found 1,300 metres from where she originally fell into the sea and was taken to hospital in Pula by boat. The director of the hospital treating her that Longstaff was in “excellent condition” and that she was due to be discharged later that day.
