The number of Corona cases in Sri Lanka increased up to 50

The number of Corona affected persons in Sri Lanka has increased up to 50 at present. The number of Corona cases reported through the world has exceeded 200,000. The government has taken many measures to prevent spread of the virus throughout the island.
At media briefing held at the National Operation Center for the Prevention of COVID- 19 Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said that a number of cases were reported yesterday as well. 24 hospitals are now ready to accept the patients for treatment. Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe says private hospitals in the country will be allowed to conduct the PCR test to determine whether a person is Covid-19 positive. However, they are allowed to under strict conditions. He said that the Covid-19 should not cost more than 6,000 rupees at private hospitals and test results should be released within 24 hours. Furthermore, the details of such persons subjected and the test results should be informed to the Epidemiology unit. The government has arranged a special flight to bring the devotees who are on pilgrimage in India back to Sri Lanka. There about 900 Sri Lankan pilgrims in India at present. Meanwhile, the Examinations Department G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination will be delayed due to this situation. Issuance of vehicle revenue licences are available as online services to prevent people coming to Divisional Secretariats. The validity period of driving licenses issued by the Commissioner-General for Motor Traffic, which expires from 16 March to 15 April will be extended June 30. State Pharmaceutical Corporation stresses that there is no shortage of medicines in the country at present.
