American Joe Roberts qualified on pole in the Moto2 at the season-opening Qatar Grand Prix which only hosted the Moto2 and Moto3 after the MotoGP was cancelled due to quarantine and visa restrictions on visitors from Italy. Roberts’ pole marks his career first and ends a 10-year pole position draught in Moto2 for U.S. riders. The American Racer rider just edged out Luca Marini and Enea Bastianini, both of Italy, who trailed the American and will go into slots two and three at Sunday’s Qatar Grand Prix.
