Residents of South Korea’s Daegu, the city at the centre of the worst virus outbreak outside China, on Thursday (March 5) deplored the devastated city after the coronavirus hit the region.

Only a few people were seen at the subway station in the morning and hundreds of people queued in front of post office to buy face masks.

“It’s like a dead city. Around 9 pm, there are no cars on the road,” Daegu resident Lee Won-ja said in a face masks waiting queue.

As of Thursday, South Korea has reported 6,088 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 42 deaths, according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC). The country’s health authority said about 75% of all cases in South Korea are in and around Daegu, its fourth-largest city.
