China says providing aid to South Korea, Belt and Road countries in fight against coronavirus

China vice foreign minister said on Thursday (March 5) that Beijing will provide aid to South Korea and other Belt and Road countries which were hit by the new coronavirus.
Ma Zhaoxu told a news briefing that China will make donations to South Korea, Iraq, Cambodia and Sri Lanka, on top of what it has already been given to Pakistan, Japan and Iran. China was also considering responding to WHO call for donations, he added.
Ma also said that the impact of the coronavirus on China’s Belt and Road projects would only be temporary.
The coronavirus has killed more than 3,000 people across China and left more than 95,000 people infected globally as of Thursday.
