Over 80,000 confirmed coronavirus cases reported globally with over 2,700 deaths

The novel coronavirus disease has now infected more than 80,000 globally and killed at least 2,700. The number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 45,604, including 8,752 severe cases. The overall confirmed cases had reached 78,064, and suspected cases registered 2,491. A number of countries outside China are reporting increasing confirmed cases, with some countries including Switzerland, Croatia, Austria and Algeria reporting their first case of coronavirus. South Korea confirmed 284 more cases of the COVID-19, raising the total number of infections to 1,261, and the death toll rose to 12, by far the largest outside China. The number of countries in the Middle East with confirmed cases of novel coronavirus has risen to nine. The total number of confirmed cases in Iran was 95, and 16 people had died of the disease by Last Tuesday. In Europe, Italy has been hardest hit, with 323 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the death toll rising to nearly a dozen.
