Heavy storms in Peru caused substantial flooding on Thursday (January 28), with the northern region of the Andean country particularly hard-hit.
In some areas, just three or four hours of significant rainfall left streets impassable and sent water pouring into houses and shops.
Flood waters as deep as two metres (6.56 feet) were reported in areas of Arequipa, 763 km (457 miles) south of Lima.
Peru is in the midst of its rainy season which extends through April.
