61 National TawheedJamad suspects further remanded

The 61 suspects who were arrested for allegedly undergoing arms training under the National TawheedJamadOrganization were further remanded.
It has been revealed that they had received arms training at the TawheedJamad headquarters in NuwaraEliya along with its leader Mohammed Saharan. All the suspects are residents of Kanthankudiya area. They were arrested following investigations after the Easter Sunday Attack. The Batticaloa Magistrate’s Court ordered the suspects to be remanded until the 14th of next month. Meanwhile, Fort Magistrate’s Court has ordered to take up a case against Minister Wimal Weerawansa on September 14. The case was deferred for the advice of the Attorney General. The lawsuit alleges that motor vehicles that were hired at the expense of the Sri Lanka Engineering Corporation and used for activities not related to the Corporation. Meanwhile the former Deputy General Manager of Sri Lanka Engineering Corporation Samantha Lokuhannadi who is on bail was granted permission to go abroad.
