When two volunteers from Moreton Island Koala Rescue in the Australian state of Queensland saw the devastation of a bushfire that ripped through neighbouring state South Australia, the two friends decided to travel to Adelaide and volunteer their time doing what they love rescuing the iconic Australian koala.
The pair, Karin Machell and Nicole Davies said they have rescued about 30 koalas with injuries including burns and dehydration since the fire known as the Cudlee Creek fire ripped through the Adelaide Hills in late December 2019.
