Bodiesof Lankan students killed in Azerbaijan fire handed over to relatives

The bodies of the students who died due to an unfortunate incident in Azerbaijan have been brought to their homes. The bodies were brought to the island last morning after the conduct of the autopsies and thereafter handed over to the relatives.

Three Sri Lankan students were following IT and Fashion Design Courses at the Western Caspian University of Azerbaijan. Two of them are 21-years-oldand the other victim was 23-years-old. They died after inhaling the poisonous smoke which emanated from the fire.

The bodies of these three students were brought to the island by air with the mediation of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The victims were two sisters Malsha Sandeepani (23) and Tharuki Amaya (21) of Bokundara, Mahawatta Piliyandala.The bodies were brought to their residencies last night.

The other victim was Amodya Maduhansi Jayakody a resident of Pahala Bomiriya Kaduwela. Her body was also taken to her residence.

The funeral is due to take place on Saturday at the general cemetery in Ihala Bomiriya.
