ITN wins several Awards at the State television Awards Festival

The Independent Television Media Network won many awards at the State Television Awards Festival, the festival conferring state honors on tele-artistes and for the qualitative advancement of the field of television creations.It was held at the Nelum Pokuna theatre yesterday on a grand scale.

The awards of the State Television Awards Festival were presented for the creations in the year 2018. Under the 1st stage, awards were presented to Sinhala , English and Tamil creations under 17 categories. It is noteworthy that Indrasiri Suraweera , Dilshan Pathiratne and Sithara Kaluarachchi of ITN had been nominated for the Best TV presenter category. The award for the best TV presenter was won by Sithara Kaluarachchi of ITN. Ifthiya Abdul Cader won the Best News Presenters Award for the Prime TV English News of the Independent Television Media Network.
Dakshalanth of Wasantham TV bagged the award for the best TV trailer. Janajeewa Wehella of Independent Television Network won the special award of the Jury for the production of Eth Pawra Programme. K.Punyamoorthi of Wasantham TV bagged the award for the best discussion programme. Samansiri Amaratunge of Independent Television Network received the award for the best documentary programme for his creation “Cheevaraya”. It was another highlight that the same person being included in the three nominations for the best sports programme from the Independent Television Network. Accordingly, Chandana Almeida bagged the award for the best Sports Programme “Pulser Adventure”. Konesh Selvarajah of Wasantham TV won the award for the best multicamera production. Kingsley Rajapaksa and Pradeep Wedakaragedara won the award for the Best Sound Design for Kumbiyo teledrama telecast over ITN. Kasun Kalhara bagged the Best Music Director award for Sahodaraya teledrama which was also telecast over ITN. The Best Camera Director award was received by Dhammika Rathnayake for Sahodaraya teledrama. Kumbiyo teledrama produced by Asanka Dodamthenna, was bestowed as the Best Teledrama. Kalani Dodamthenna won the award for the Best Actress for her role in Sahodaraya teledrama. Damitha Chandrasiri clinched the award for the best editing for Kumbiyo teledrama.

The Best Director award was given to Lakmal Dharmarathna, for the teledrama Kumbiyo. Thumindu Dodamthenna, Kalana Gunasekara and Yureni Noshika were awarded for the Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards respectively, for their roles in Kumbiyo teledrama. Independent Television Network was also able to win two joint awards under the Best Script Editor. Lakmal Dharmarathna clinched the award for Kumbiyo while Damitha Chandrasiri secured the award for Sahodaraya.
