President says he is not agreeable to anything that harms the Freedom Party vision

President Maithripala Sirisena has said that he is not prepared to agree to any programme that would harm the policy and vision of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. The President was addressing the Sri Lanka Freedom Part Kurunegala District Convention.
The Kurunegala District Conference one of sries of the District Conference held by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party countrywide was held at the Hettipola public fair grounds last evening. It was attended by many Parliamentarians including the Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party NimalSiripala de Silva, General Secretary DayasiriJayasekara, General Secretary of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance Mahinda Amaraweera and national organizer DumindaDissaayake.
Addressing the large gathering present President Maithripala Sirisena said that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party would join the PodujanaPeramuna only if it agreed to the proposal made by the party to contest the Presidential election to contest under a common symbol.
The President urged the Sri Lanka PodujanaPeramuna to be flexible on his party’s conditions to form an alliance between both parties. His party would be willing to support presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, they would not agree on contesting under the lotus bud symbol of the SLPP. He noted that he had conveyed this decision during a meeting with SLPP leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, its presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, and Basil Rajapaksa last week. The President queried whether favours were not done to them to accommodate their party members as a Prime Minister and Opposition Leader, and also to allow them to hold their parliamentary seats?.
United Peoples Freedom Alliance Mahinda Amaraweera also addressed the gathering.
