The President explains about expenditure on education

President Maithripala Sirisena says a huge sum of money has been spent on education in the country after his ascendance to power as the President. The President made these observations addressing a function held at the Kottta-pitiya Seagala Maha Vidyalaya, Polonnaruwa.
President Maithripala Sirisena declared open a newly built school building with a laboratory, home science center and four classrooms. The project has been implemented at a cost of 7.3 million rupees with the objective of providing quality education to the children under the Awakening of Polonnaruwa program. President Sirisena who arrived at the school was warmly welcomed by the students. The President unveiled the commemorative plaque.
Meanwhile, the President also declared open the multi storied building at the Kahatagahapitiya Junior School, Elahera, which was renovated at a cost of 2.9 million rupees. The President also donated school equipment to the school children in the region and donated housing equipment to low income people. President Sirisena also participated in opening of the renovated classroom building of the Radawi-geoya Junior School in Elahera Ela to the students. The total cost borne for the modernized classroom building is 42 lakhs rupees. The President also participated in the inauguration of the new building of the Elahera Ela / Nikapitiya Junior School which was constructed at a cost of 9.5 million rupees. The President then participated in the Rangeviliya program which was held at the Seagala Temple. This program is being implemented by the Presidential Secretariat to encourage households to cultivate organic foods.
