Month-old panda cub in good health in northwest China

A female panda cub born at the Giant Panda Breeding Center in Xi’an City of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province last month is now in good health.

The panda cub named Bao Bao was born on August 25 to become the sixth cub of her mother, Lou Sheng. Despite some early concerns, breeders have been taking good care of little Bao Bao, and the the cub now can consume around 150 grams of breast milk, and has grown to weigh over 800 grams. According to staff, Lou Sheng was the first artificially bred giant panda in Shaanxi. The 16-year-old was named after her birthplace in Xi’an’s Louguantai region.
