Temporary, casual, substitute and contract basis employees in government institutions to be made permanent.

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to make temporary, casual, substitute and contract basis employees in government institutionspermanent.

Employees who were unable to fulfil the service requirements mentioned in Public Administration Circulars 25/2014 and 25/2014 (1) will be made permanent under this scheme. Cabinet approval was given to confirm the employees who had served in the Public Sector Primary Grades posts for more than 180 days on service requirements. The Cabinet also decided to grant pensionable appointments.

A month has been declared in line with the International Information Rights Day. The month will be in effect from September 15th to October 15th. A circular has been issued to advise all government agencies to support right to information activities of the public during the month. It is also expected to implement mobile services in five districts.

The Cabinet approval was given to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with domestic aviation services to operate domestic air services on selected destinations.

The government has focused attention on introducing a legal framework to combat terrorism. Accordingly, the Legal Draftsman has been directed to amend the existing laws and draft the new laws.

The Cabinet of Ministers decided to enter into an agreement with the European Union to obtain a grant of 18.81 million for the Food Security and Quality Assurance Project. Meanwhile, the government has decided to award a contract to a Singaporean company to import 900,000 barrels of petrol for the next 8 months.
