Afghan teenage singer teaches Kabul street children to take up music

At least twice a week, 17-year-old Masooma Mohammadi and her band members take a group of street children to a Kabul cafe and teach them music, from playing musical instrument to reading notes. Masooma and her band have also been supporting the children financially, giving up most of their average $75 per concert earnings in their private performances to pay for their education. Brishna, 12, is among the 15 street children Masooma has been teaching and hopes one day she can follow the steps of her mentor. Teaching children is just one aspect of the band’s advocacy as they have been trying to warm the hearts of the public since they formed their group in 2018.
