The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning on strong winds and rough seas. In the meantime the Irrigation Department said that the water levels of Kaluganga and Gin Ganga have neared the spill level.

The Met Department said that windy conditions are expected to enhance over the island, particularly in Southern and North-central provinces and Ratnapura, Kalutara and Trincomalee districts and the central hilly areas up to (60-70) kmph at times, says the Meteorology Department. The wind speed can increase up to 60 kmph at times elsewhere.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces. Heavy falls of about 100 mm are likely at some places particularly in Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces and Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Several spells of light showers will occur in Anuradhapura and Mannar Districts.

Meanwhile, the Irrigation Department said that if the present situation prevails within the next few hours the people living in the Kalu, Kelani and Gin Rivers and those residing on either side of the tributaries connected to these rivers should remain extra cautious.

The water level of the Kalu Ganga in the Ratnapura area has neared the spill level, while that of the Ginganga in the Thawalama area has also neared the spill level.
