Sri Lanka and Cambodia sign two agreements

President Maithripala Sirisena who is on a tour of Cambodia met the Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen for bilateral talks. Two bilateral agreement were also signed at the end of the bilateral discussions. One MOU relates to Political Consultation between the two Foreign Ministries, and second, an MoU on Cooperation between Chambers of Commerce of both countries.
Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena met Cambodia’s King Boronmeath Norodom Sihamoni this morning. The President who visited the Cambodian Palace was accorded a very warm welcome. A proud and colourful ceremony was organized to welcome the President. During the bilateral talks that followed the Cambodian King said that Cambodia stands firmly together with Sri Lanka in further cementing bilateral relations in economic, trade, social as well as the renaissance of Buddhism. Both leaders discussed at length in carrying forward via a new approach the existing relations on many fields including education, tourism and industries so that both countries would be benefitted.
The President expressed his thanks to the Cambodian King for the investigation extended to him to tour the Cambodian state marking a significant juncture in the friendship existing between Sri Lanka and Cambodia.
Meanwhile President Maithripala Sirisena visited the Independence Monument situated in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh and paid floral tributes. The President paid floral tributes to the monument constructed in memory of Norodom Sihanouk, considered as the present father of Cambodia.
