Autonomous car line hits the road in Brooklyn

A Boston start-up is debuting a line of autonomous cars in a contained industrial park in New York as it hopes to lead the way in the burgeoning field. Optimus Ride is also planning on deploying lines in greater Washington DC, Massachusetts and California. Optimus Ride is of course not alone in the self-driving car sector, but says it is the first to roll out a functioning autonomous car line in an enclosed urban area. In partnering with New York’s Brooklyn Navy Yard, Optimus Ride will feature a line of six autonomous vehicles. The autos will transport passengers from the privately-run industrial park at its Cumberland Gate to a newly installed gate of the NYC Ferry. The ferry connects Brooklyn with Manhattan.
