Giant wave at Chinese water park injures 44

At least 44 people were injured at a water park in northeast China earlier this week after a wave machine malfunctioned and caused a giant tsunami-like wave. The incident occurred at 2.40pm local time on Monday  inside Yulong Shuiyun Water Park’s unfortunately-named ‘Tsunami Pool’ (wave machine pool). The malfunction which led to the giant wave was caused by an electric fault, according to preliminary investigations, the Longjing local authorities said in a statement on their official Weibo account.
