PM claims rejection of certain sections of the Intelligence report on the attack amounts to inducing IS terrorism

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe has said that rejection of certain sections in the report presented by the Intelligence Unit on the terrorist attack on Easter Sunday by some, amounts to encouraging IS terrorism. He made this observation joining in a function held at the Kinniya Madhya Maha Vidyalaya. The Prime Minister further said that working on behalf of political aims paralyzed evidence against terrorism.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said that a large number had died following the bomb explosions in Hotels and Churches. Some queries as to why they died and why they were targeted. It was the work of the ISIS and some are attempting to put the blames on the entire Muslim community. The persons who were engaged in the process should be punished. Some said that Muslim Ministers were obstructing the inquiry process. All Muslim Ministers resigned from their portfolios without being faulted. He said that the Muslim Ministers were not obstructing inquiries and if they are not found guilty to consider taking them back. The Parliamentary Select Committee also made inquiries.
The Prime Minister said that some are calling for the rejection of Police reports. It is not proper to do so.
He said the Intelligence report had been forwarded to Speaker and the Attorney General and they will do the needful. The report contained 300 charges. It said the majority of these allegations were made without any basis. It also stated that some of the complaints have nothing to do with the allegations. At the hearing of the case, the lawyers representing the suspects stated that the report was totally unacceptable. Certain forces do not accept this report and it could lead to weaken the evidence and set the conditions for real terrorists to escape. It invalidates intelligence investigations carried out over two months,
The Prime Minister yesterday vested in the students the M.P.H. Mahroof auditorium of the Kinniya Madhya Maha Vidyalaya constructed on grants provided by the Education Ministry. Parliamentarians Abdullah Mahroof, Imran Mahroof, M.H. Thowfeek, K. Durai Ratnasingham and Sandi Samarasinghe were among those who joined in the occasion.
Meanwhile the Prime Minister also launched construction work on the Kinniya Kurinjakeni Bridge. The Project has been launched in response to a request made by Parliamentarian. It is being undertaken in response to a request made by Parliamentarian Imran Mahrood. The cost will be 750 million rupees.
