Giant Panda celebrates 6th birthday in Taipei

The Taipei Zoo threw a party for its six-year-old giant panda, Yuanzai, with a giant cake and a number of fans in attendance eager to wish her a happy birthday. Yuanzai, the first panda ever born on the Chinese island region, came into the world on July 6, 2013, and was the first baby of “Tuan Tuan” and “Yuan Yuan”, the couple who were presented as goodwill gifts to Taiwan by the Chinese mainland. When the panda cub was born six years ago, it weighed roughly 200 grams. Now, although the panda has grown up, in the eyes of those lined up to sing happy birthday, she is still that same adorable little panda cub. As tourists packed in around the panda enclosure, Yuanzai took her time eating her birthday cake on the other side of the glass.
