New entry road to Udawalawa national wildlife park

The government has taken steps to build a new entry road to Udawalawa National Wildlife Park.The project is implemented jointly by the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, Wildlife Conservation Department and the Sabaragamuwa University. 15 million rupees will be spent to build the new road. Udawalawa National Wildlife Park declared the sanctuary in 1972 for the protection of wild elephants and other animals. The Wildlife Park is situated bordering Ratnapura and Monaragala Districts. The new road is built through Balangoda – Hapugala area. Accordingly local and foreign tourists will be able to enter the Udawala National Wildlife Park by two roads.
