Pakistani Refugees relocated in Vavuniya

The 75 Pakistani refugees who arrived in the country in the past were taken to a military camp taken in Vavuniya under strict security.
These refugees earlier under the custody of the Negombo Police. They lived in the Negombo area with the knowledge of the United Nations with the intention of leaving for other countries. They lodged a complaint with the Police that there is a threat to their lives following the Easter Sunday attacks.
Accordingly the Police took action to find them shelter at a community centre in the Ambalanthota area with the mediation of the United Nations. Thereafter they staged a protest that there was a threat to their security from the residents of Ambalanthota. Following this incident action was initiated to find them shelter to these Pakistani refugees in a Welfare Camp in Vavuniya.
