School attendance shows progress

Attendance of school children has shown a progress today.

Activities in schools were held as usual. The number of students present at the Ananda and Nalanda colleges has increased significantly. The security initiative implemented in the schools was supported by the parents and different stakeholders.

Meanwhile, students of the Royal College, Colombo have organized religious programs to mark the Wesak festival.

Academic activities of the schools in Saainda-maru-du have also commenced. According to Educational Director of Ampara, Wimalasena Madduma-arachchi, attendance of students in Ampara schools exceeded 85 percent. He hopes attendance of students in schools will be 100 percent by tomorrow.  Security forces have taken measures to ensure maximum security in the schools in the Ampara district. Academic activities in the Galle district are in the progress successfully. According to the school principals presence of students has increased significantly.

The Education Officers in the Kantale Educational zone say attendance of students in schools will reach 100 percent in coming two days.

President of the Free Education Movement,Sudaththa Ratnayake said that some political groups are propagating false information to fulfill their intentions.

Academic activities in the schools in the North Western province were commenced today after lifting the curfew. Our correspondents stated that presence of students in schools was satisfactory.
