Dog sledders trek across arctic tundra

The famous Iditarod dog sled race in Alaska is the inspiration for its European equivalent, the Fjallraven Polar, which crosses 300 kilometres of Arctic tundra.A group of 30 amateur sledders and 200 dogs, accompanied by experienced guides, set off on the annual polar expedition on April 8.They had to cope with sub-zero temperatures and camping out in the stunning permafrost landscape between Norway and Sweden before the event ended on Saturday (April 13).The event started in 2012 and this year’s event attracted applications from 2,183 people from 92 countries.
