ITN bags a handful of awards

The inaugural Presidential media awards ceremony was held at the BMICH today. Journalists of the ITN bagged a series of awards under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

47 awards will be given away to journalists who have performed excellently in the Print, Broadcast and Web media. Four special awards will also be presented. Kalaa-keerthi Edwin Ariyadasa from Print media, Karunaratne Amarasinghe from Radio, Lucian Bulathsinghala from Television and Lakshman Jayawardena from Web will be felicitated with special awards. The Presidential awards ceremony has been organized by the Ministry of Mass Media under the purview of Minister Ruwan Wijewardena.
Number of journalists representing the ITN brought glory to the media network winning number of awards at the first Presidential Media Awards ceremony. Ifthiya Abdul Cader of Prime TV won the award for Best News Presenter. Irfan Mohammed from the Wasantham TV became the best Tamil news presenter. Indrasiri Suraweera’s ‘Nonimi Charika’ program that was aired over the ITN FM bagged the award for best radio program. M S M Mushraff won the award for best Tamil TV program. Dushantha Dharshana, Indika Weerakoon and Irfan Mohammed from ITN were nominated for the best investigative program and the award went to Irfan Mohammed.
