Hearing-impaired artist moves Dubai with lightning-speed painting

Only seven minutes could be enough for a Zambian painter to start and finish an oil painting, a feat that dozens gathered to see for themselves at World Art Dubai. Victor Sitali, 29, is a hearing-impaired artist who moved with his family in 2006 to Dubai, where his talent for art was discovered. The part-time graphic designer paints on the side and mainly works with oil paint and acrylic on canvas. The brother of three boys was not born deaf but he lost his hearing gradually in his early years, his mother Dorothy Sitali said, while standing by his side at the art fair in Dubai. Sitali’s mother said it was lucky for them that they came to Dubai where “trial and error” revealed her son’s painting skills.
