Srima Dissanayake bids farewell to the nation

The funeral of Srima Dissanayake, wife of the late Minister Gamini Dissanayake, took place place today at General Cemetery Kanatta. President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe paid their last respects.
The remains of the wife of late Minister Gamini Dissanayake were placed at the Colombo Wijayarama residence. The President who visited the house paid his last respects to Srima Dissanayake. The President after paying his last respects expressed his condolences to her children Minister Naveen Dissanayake Parliamentarian Mayantha Dissanayake and Waruni Dissasnayake.
Srima Dissanayake was 77 at the time of her death. She was a candidate at the 1994 Presidential elections after her husband Gamini Dissanayake died in a bomb attack during a Presidential election rally. The funeral took place at the General Cemetery Kanatte. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe participated in the funeral. Among the distinguished gathering that joined in the final rites were politicians, representatives of various organisations as well as artistes.
