Tech turns data into ultrasonic sound waves

Sound waves beyond the range of the human ear represent a new method for transferring data between devices.

Israel-based Sonarax has built a protocol that transforms data into ultrasonic frequencies that can be sent and received by any electronic device equipped with a microphone or speaker.

The new communication tool, they say, provides the ‘missing link’ in connectivity if Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC aren’t sufficient.

Sonarax converts data into audio frequencies which are detectable by electronic devices, but are above the range of the highest frequencies that humans can hear.

Primarily it acts as a reliable communication tool, with users able to send and receive text messages, security keys and emojis even if the cellular network is unavailable.
