Tsitsipas suffers shock defeat to Dzumhur in Rotterdam

Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas went down to a shock defeat at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam. The 20-year-old, who reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open after beating Roger Federer in January, was outperformed in the first set by Bosnian 26-year-old Damir Dzumhur, best demonstrated by Tsitsipas infuriating himself with a wayward backhand that saw him drop serve.

But Tsitsipas came roaring back in the second set, taking it 6-1.The momentum appeared to be with the Greek player but Dzumhur peformed a series of impressive shots, including a delicate forehand with his opponent on serve, to leave Tsitsipas facing match point at 4-5.

The Greek saved this match point and another in the same game, but Dzumhur then broke Tsitsipas in the twelfth game of the set to take the match 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. The Bosnian now moves onto the round of 16 where he is due to face Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Kukushkin.
