Land Reclamation for Port City completed

The Port City Colombo marked another milestone with the completion of reclamation work.
According to the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, the 269 hectares of land from the ocean is now wholly reclaimed and the ground is set for the second phase of the project.
The ceremony to celebrate the land mark event was attended by Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka and Ambassador for China in Sri Lanka Cheng Xueyuan. The dignitaries were given a tour of the reclaim sight which is being made ready for setting up for infrastructure. Dredgers were used for 28 months to mine sand during the reclamation work.
The dredgers and other equipment have been equipped with high tech modern facilities including artificial intelligence. The Coastal Conservation Department also employed an environmental monitoring committee to oversee the environmental compliance of the Colombo Port City development project. Addressing the gathering, Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said that all are set to commence the second phase of the Port City project.
