Wimal’s case postponed for March

The Colombo High Court has postponed the hearing of a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa, until the 27th of March.
The order was issued by Colombo High Court Judge Pradeep Hettiarachchi. During today’s hearing, officials attached to the Bribery Commission has requested court to grant permission to access the computer system of a private bank in which several accounts in question were maintained by MP Weerawansa.
The judge today granted permission to access the computer network of the Hatton National Bank named as one of the evidence in the case.
The Colombo High Court previously served indictments on Parliamentarian Weerawansa over the case filed by the Bribery Commission for allegedly earning around 75 million rupees through unknown means aside from his lawful earnings.
MP Weerawansa has been indicted on 39 counts for earning 75 million rupees from 1st of January, 2009 to 31st of December, 2014 by unlawful and illegal means while serving as a Minister.
