North Korea leader arrives in Beijing after warning of alternate path to U.S. talks

A green train with yellow stripes believed to be carrying North Korean leader Kim Jong Un arrived at a train station in Beijing morning amid heightened security.

The train was similar to the one that Kim took last year in his visit to the Chinese capital.A police convoy believed to be carrying Kim was also seen on Beijing’s Changan Avenue soon after the train arrived.Kim is visiting China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, days after warning he may take an alternative path if the United States does not ease sanctions and pressure on his isolated country.China’s official Xinhua news agency confirmed that Kim will be in the country until Thursday (January 10).Kim left for China on a private train on Monday (January 7) afternoon accompanied by his wife, Ri Sol Ju, and senior North Korean officials, including major negotiator Kim Yong Chol, and foreign minister Ri Yong Ho, North Korea’s state-run KCNA news agency said.
