Indonesia raises volcano alert level after deadly tsunami

Indonesia has raised the alert level for the erupting Anak Krakatau volcano days after it triggered a tsunami that killed more than 400 people . At the same time, the police on sea patrol are trying to convince people living on tiny islands near the volcano to evacuate for their own safety . When the tsunami struck, four out of 100 residents on an island called Sangiang in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra were killed and dozens others injured by the surging waves. Most of those who survived have been evacuated.

Given the fact that the volcano is still active, police want the rest to leave. But they’re strong-willed and say they’re remaining where they are. Police have to make do with delivering supplies and giving any help that is needed.
