Uda-walawa receives more tourists

The number of local and foreign tourists visiting the Uda-walawa National Wild Park has increased drastically.
The daily income of the National Wild Park has exceeded two million rupees due to the increased arrival of tourists. Officer in-charge of the Wild Park, D D Samaranayake said that basic amenities for the tourists have been ensured and they are making efforts to assure a better experience for the visitors.
The income level of the shop owners and tour operators at the Uda-walawa area has also risen. D D Samaranayake said that as some tourists throw off plastic and other litter to the environment an alarming pollution is being witnesssed in the Wild Life Park. The officials of the Uda-walawa Wild Life Park have urged the visitors to refrain from polluting the environment. It has also been reported on hunters who kill wild animals and the public are urged to give information about such unscrupulous elements over the hot line 1992.
