Dortmund’s unbeaten Bundesliga record wiped out in shock defeat at Dusseldorf

Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund were beaten for the first time this season in the German top flight as struggling Fortuna Dusseldorf produced a seismic shock. Dusseldorf started the day in 16th place but they stunned Lucien Favre’s men with a 2-1 victory at a raucous Esprit Arena, Dusseldorf, Germany, as Dortmund’s unbeaten record went up in smoke. Dodi Lukebakio opened the scoring for the hosts in the 22nd minute after Dortmund were hit on the counter, and Jean Zimmer doubled their lead with a rocket of a shot 11 minutes after half-time. The Yellow Blacks pressed and Paco Alcacer planted a header into the bottom corner to give them hope with nine minutes remaining, but Dusseldorf deservedly held on for their second successive victory.
