Security forces held land blocks in the East released to the owners

The first phase of releasing civilians land used for security purposes in the East began in the Trincomalee district.
The land blocks were acquired by the security forces during the conflicts in the North and East. The first phase of releasing the civilians land to the owners was held under the patronage of Governor of the Eastern Province Rohitha Bogollagama at the Governor’s office. The release was made following consultations with the security forces as well. Accordingly, the owners of the land blocks in Mutur, Kuchchaveli and Kantale received their documents. Major General Aruna Jayasekera , Commander of the Security Forces East, symbolically handed over the relevant certificates of land. The second and third stages of the program will be held on the 19th and 26th of this month. Governor of the Eastern Province Rohitha Bogollagama said that accordingly rightful owners of the land blocks in the Batticaloa and Ampara districts will receive their due certificates. Parliamentarian Mahida Samarasinghe also spoke about releasing security forces held land at a media briefing held at the SLFP Headquarters.
