73rd birthday of the Prime Minister marked

Today is the 73rdbirthday of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who is one of the legendary leaders of Sri Lanka.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who was born on November 18, 1945, is a great leader who worked tirelessly for the betterment of country. He entered into the Parliament in the 1970 General Election by winning the Beliatta seat as the youngest MP.

This bold leader who hails from Ruhuna played an excellent role for betterment of the motherland, not only as a Member of Parliament, a Minister, Leader of the Opposition, but also as the President. He was able to make the pledge to eradicate terrorism a reality and unite the country.

The legendary leader who never wanted to bow down in the face of international conspiracies against the country, dawned a new era of development. The great leader from Ruhuna is receiving best wishes for his birthday from all over the world.

The patronage for the Katina Pinakama of the Sri SambodhiViharaya, Colombo was made by the family members of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. PM Mahinda Rajapaksa also participated in the alms giving ceremony at his Wijerama official residence.

The Katina Cheervaraya was brought to the SambodhiViharaya from the official residence of the Prime Minister this morning in a parade. The sacred Cheervaraya was offered to the chief incumbent of Sri SambodhiViharaya, Ven. BoralandeVajiragnanathero.

An alms giving was given to 130 Kiri Ammas at the NarahenpitaAbhayaramaya to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Ven. Muruththetuwe Ananda Thero conducted the religious observance.

Members of the Maha Sangha, Ministers and Members of Parliament were present on this occasion. Meanwhile, the opening of a new studio complex at the Buddhist channel at the SambodhiViharaya took place under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse.

The studio complex is named after most venerable DaranagamaKusadammathero. An alms giving ceremony was also held to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday. END
