President instructs officials to continue with public services

President Maithripala Sirisena has directed Heads of State Institutions to implement the plans to provide services to the public and the affairs of the state sector. During a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat he has instructed the officials not to let the process weaken. Heads of State Institutions including ministry, district and chief secretaries attended the meeting. The President said that the present political conflicts would be resolved in future and it was the responsibility of the public servants to maintain public services continuously.

The President said that he expects all public servants to work impartially and to perform their duties with responsibility. He expressed his happiness for not receiving complaints about any state officials so far. The President instructed them to take actions according to instructions given during the meeting.

The President emphasizing the need to maintain essential services said that many problems could arise in next few days if the decisions that should be taken at present were not taken properly. The President requested state officials to pay their attention to continue with government’s development programs including the Garama Shakthi Peoples Movement to provide welfare for the people. The President said that he has instructed the governors to monitor those activities.

The President requested state officials to commit themselves for the success of agricultural programs including the National Food Production Program.  He explained the importance of all state institutions coming together to achieve the targets. Finacial progress of the ministries and the progress of development programs were reviewed at the discussion. President Maithripala Sirisena said that he hopes to discuss about some problems further with the ministry secretaries and to give necessary directions.
