De Minaur maintains 100% Next Gen record after beating Rublev

Australian wonderkid Alex De Minaur made it back-to-back victories in Group B at the Next Gen Series in Milan, Italy, as he saw off Andrey Rublev to close in on a place in the semi-finals. The 19-year-old has had a breakthrough year on the ATP tour having reached two finals in 2018 and the world number 31 had enough to see off the threat of the Russian, whose frustration boiled over in the fourth set as he smashed his racket. De Minaur is the second-highest seed at the tournament after Stefanos Tsitsipas and he can now secure a place in the last four with victory over Taylor Fritz on Thursday in the final group game. De Minaur won in four sets, 4-1 3-4(5) 4-1 4-2, leaving world number 68 Rublev with work to do to make the semis. Rublev is now one from two in Group B and needs to beat Italian wildcard Liam Caruana to maintain his chance of progress.
