The UPFA requests the Speaker to ensure privileges of the new Premier

The UPFA requests the Speaker to ensure all rights and privileges of newly appointed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse.

The UPFA has made a request from the Speaker sending a letter. The UPFA points out that the President has made the appointment in compliance with the constitution of Sri Lanka. The letter signed by General Secretary of the UPFA, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera pointed out that Mahinda Rajapakse who represents the UPFA has already taken oaths as the Premier.

Since the Speaker is well aware of the appointment, he is expected to ensure due privileges and rights of the new Premier. Meanwhile, an unofficial meeting of members of the political parties that represent the House was held at Parliamentary premises, today. They met on a request of the Speaker. The Speaker educated the representatives about the letter written by a group of Parliamentarians requesting to reconvene the Parliament.
