Case against Gamini Senarath will be taken up from the 7th of next month

The courts decided to take up the case against four defendants including Chief of the former President, Mahinda Rajapakse’s staff, Gamini Senarath on the 7th of next month instead of 30th of this month.

The decision was taken as the defendants had not received due documents so far. The special high court of trial at bar previously decided to hear the case on daily basis from the 30th of this month under the mega scale financial frauds allegations.

The suspects have been indicted for investing 500 million rupees illegally in the Helanco Hotel Private Limited that was transferred to Canvin Holdings by the Litro Gas Company. Former Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, Piyadasa Kudabalage, former Samurdhi Commissioner, Neel Bandara Hapuhinna and Lasantha Bandara have been indicted in addition to Gamini Senarath. The defendant party stated that they are ready to file an initial objection over the authority of the court to hear the case. The trial at bar ordered to call the case on 30th of this month to consider the initial objection.
