Car belonging to Saudi consulate found in Istanbul parking lot

A car belonging to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul has been found in the Sultangazi district of the city, broadcaster NTV and other local media said on Monday (October 22), adding that police would search the vehicle.
Turkish and Saudi authorities have been investigating the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who went missing after entering the consulate on Oct. 2. After weeks of denying knowledge of his fate, Saudi officials said the prominent journalist was killed in a “rogue operation”.
Khashoggi, a Saudi national and U.S. resident, went missing after entering the consulate to obtain documents for his upcoming marriage.
For weeks Saudi Arabia denied knowledge of what happened to him, initially claiming Khashoggi left the building. On Saturday (October 20), Riyadh said he was killed in a fist fight in the consulate. The Saudi foreign minister has since called his death a “huge and grave mistake”.
Turkish sources say the authorities have an audio recording purportedly documenting Khashoggi’s murder inside the consulate.
