Flores suffers major wipeout in third round of World Surf League event

Frenchman Jeremy Flores suffered from one of the largest wipeouts of the year as he fell head first from the top of a high wave in action in the Portugese town of Peniche. Flores struggled to recover from the wipeout and was beaten by Japan’s Kanoa Igarashi in his third round heat. Fellow French surfer Joan Duru had much better luck as he emerged as the day’s surprise victor by beating world number two Filipe Toledo in the 7th heat. Brazilian Gabriel Medina maintained his top class surfing by comfortably beating Australia’s Ryan Callinan in the 6th heat.
