A landslide threat at another hill in New-weligama

The National Building Research Organization announces that a landslide threat has been posed at another hill next to the Castlereigh reservoir in Norwood.

Attention has already been drawn on constructing a temporary alternative route to bypass the landslide hit part of the Hatton-Bagawanthalawa main road. Five housing units and part of the Hatton-Bagawanthalawa road were sunk due to the bad weather in the New-weligama area in Norwood, yesterday.

Geological investigations are being carried out to track the reason for the disaster. The officials attached to the National Building Research Organization said that another landslide is possible to be taken place with the bad weather. An alternative route is being constructed for the light vehicles. As per the recommendations of the NBRO, the authorities will construct a road for the heavy vehicles as well.
