No economic meltdown will be allowed in the country

Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera stresses that no room will be allowed for an economic meltdown in Sri Lanka.
The Minister was speaking at a media briefing held at the Sirikotha UNP headquarters. He also stated that value of the rupee has fallen due to the huge debt crisis inherited from the previous Rajapakse regime.

The debt amount borrowed by the Rajapakse regime stands as 83 percent. Minister Samaraweera explains that loss incurred due to the construction of the Hambantota port is 46 billion rupees. The Mattala Airport has also caused an 8.5 billion rupee loss to the Sri Lankan economy.

Minister Mangala Samaraweera pointed out that the current government has to shoulder the highest debt burden in the history. He stated that the present administration is capable to overcome the challenge addressing all the hardships. He emphasized that no economic collapse is present in the country at present.
