Survivors in dire need of aid one week after Indonesian tsunami

Nearly a week after the devastating earthquakes and tsunami hit Indonesia’s Central Sulawesi province, the tens of thousands of people who were left homeless are still in dire need of aid with many looking to flee the worst-hit areas. An Indonesian navy frigate arrived in the damaged harbor outside Palu carrying boxes of bottled water and other supplies to the survivors, but local people said it was too little and too late after the horrifying tsunami swamped the area.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the multiple quakes and ensuing tsunami in Indonesia’s Central Sulawesi province has passes 1550. Many victims are feared to still be buried in the ruins of Palu, the provincial capital, and in the districts of Donggala and Sigi.
