Medvedev beats Schwartzman in Japan Open first round

Fourth seed Diego Schwartzman of Argentina was beaten 6-4 6-4 by qualifier Daniil Medvedev of Russia in the first round of the Japan Open in Tokyo.The opening set saw four breaks of serve before Medvedev clinched it with a fifth break in the tenth game. In the second set, play went with serve until the tenth game when Medvedev easily broke again to clinch the match in 90 minutes.Medvedev will meet another qualifier, Martin Klizan of Slovakia, in the second round, after Klizan beat Steve Johnson of the United States on Monday.
