Rea wins a staggering fourth straight Superbikes title

Northern Irishman Jonathan Rea once more proved his absolute dominance of the World Superbikes Championship by clinching a record fourth consecutive title with a win in the first race at Magny-Cours in France. Rea started the race from the front row but quickly moved into the lead past teammate Tom Sykes to cruise through the race with no challenger in contention finishing three seconds clear of Sykes and 8.5 seconds ahead of Spaniard Xavi Fores. His closest rival in the overall standings Chaz Davies only managed a fifth place finish on his Ducati. Rea’s race win was his seventh in a row – proving unstoppable since his double victory in the United States in late June.
